The Art of Waiting

A vast majority of human beings leave a piece of their soul behind, either at some stage of life or deep within someone’s heart. Time and the world will constantly urge them to ‘move on.’ However, some people cannot simply uproot themselves and transplant elsewhere so easily. For them, that space was just too safe and too precious. It might not be possible to quickly walk away from a place they experienced so intensely.

In such circumstances, an assurance like, “No matter how late it gets, just stay right there… I will come,” becomes a true blessing. It is within the trust of those words that the lifespan of long waits lies hidden.

The mother and son in the movie Chidambaram offer just that kind of assurance. Even when deviations, downfalls, and collapses shatter their lives, the core of love between them endures in that very waiting. It is the story of that single assurance—”I will come”—standing unshaken through the fiercest of storms. Perhaps, it is such assurances that inspire many defeated lives to keep living.

Balan—a decent movie.
